If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. ~Michael J. Fox

About Me

Welcome to my little blog! I wanted to be able to share the lessons that really worked and had a great response in my classroom and here it is!

I am in my second year of teaching. I have a BA in elementary education, a M.ed. in teaching and learning for elementary education, and am currently working on my doctorate of education. I specialize in pre-k through 3rd grade but prefer to teach pre-k and kindergarten but would never hesitate to teach any grade.

I am the mother of 3 little girls, a 1st grader and twin 4 year olds who will be moving onto kindergarten soon. In my spare time (what little I have) I love to do photography, scrap-booking, and traveling. I love to go to new places and find interesting things to bring back to my class. My husband is active duty military and we have had to opportunity to live in multiple locations around this wonderful country. It's been so much fun to bring items from these places into my classroom and teach the kids about places they have never seen.

My Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy revolves around a differentiated classroom. Growing up I always had a difficult time with learning material that I knew yet would not pass my tests. It wasn't until I was a junior in high school that a teacher of mine pointed out that I just learned in a different way than the traditional methods. This was when I had my first experience with different methods of learning. I myself do better with visual lessons and hands-on lessons. Many others do better learning through reading or writing. Every classroom is full of all these different learning styles and it's up to the teacher to find a way to teach with all of these methods in mind. It not only is more successful than only teaching the traditional way but it also allows the students to learn the material more easily.

As a teacher it is important that we not only look our for our students but our student's success. Students rely on us to give them our best and that's what we become teachers to do!
